Seymour Spring Ski and Shuksan White Salmon Glacier Attempt

A Friday evening ski on Seymour with Stefan. There was a Canucks game that night, so it was very quiet up there. There’s an impressive amount of snow up here, I suspect I’ll be doing evening tours here until late June.

The next day, I joined a group of VOCers on an attempt at skiing Mount Shuksan, a very aesthetic mountain located next to Mount Baker in Washington State. It’s hard not to take photo while staring at Mount Shuksan, with all its glaciers and jagged features, unless it’s a whiteout as we experienced on Saturday morning. I stood underneath the extended car trunk while sorting out my ski gear, momentarily sheltering myself from the rain. Nick, Artem, Michal, Anne, Craig, Nick, Tim, Laura and I spent most of Saturday wandering up the White Salmon Glacier in a whiteout before camping and enjoying a spectacular sunset. The next morning, the clouds surrounded us again. Timing is essential to success in the mountains, and the weather didn’t seem to be cooperating that day. We slept in, enjoyed some mental word games, and skied down the White Salmon Glacier.
